IMPORT & EXPORT CUSTOMS FORMALITIES

International merchandise must always pass through one or many customs borders before it reaches its destination. Customs Clearance consists of declaring the entry/exit of goods into a certain economy. The clearing of cargo and its physical movement are two separate functions yet they are closely intertwined. Basic knowledge on how customs clearance works & the paperwork required is mandatory.

For the clearance of goods in a foreign country, Cargomaster is very often called upon to assist in issuing required documents, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates, legalization, attestation, permits, etc. Fortunately, we’re well versed in the handling of local & global customs formalities, and our network of trusted partners are all experienced in their local regulations, so your goods pass swiftly across borders. Our long experience taught us what each country requires & where/how to obtain it.

Documentation & Permits

Cargomaster understands complex legal and documentary requirements and is aware of the paperwork conditions prevalent in a multitude of markets around the globe. Some commodities need more approvals than others so we are duly diligent in making sure all necessary documents are available prior to shipment. Following tasks are elementary processes for any of our shipments:

  • preparing the documentation, i.e. completing consignment notes, including all charges thereon, and ensuring that invoices and commercial documentation meet all the requirements for movement;
  • checking that export licenses (at point of departure) and import licenses (at destination) are all in order and comply fully with government regulations in each country;
  • ensuring that packing certificates are supplied by exporters of hazardous or restricted articles, in compliance with government regulations;
  • arranging customs documentation and clearance formalities at the point of entry/exit.
